Sea spa: last of the summer sun at Six Senses Kaplankaya

Sea spa: last of the summer sun at Six Senses Kaplankaya

Where is it?

Carved into giant rock formations, this exclusive hillside retreat – less than 30 minutes by boat from Bodrum – offers guests a bespoke wellness experience against the backdrop of the ruggedly romantic south Aegean coast.

Why the hype?

The latest addition to Six Senses’ Med portfolio is poised to attract the jet-set crowd back to this unspoiled slice of the Turkish Riviera. Surrounded by olive groves and clear water, the hotel gives modern architecture a Turkish twist with flat weave rugs crafted by regional artisans and authentic ornaments from the Ottoman era.

What to have?

Spread over two floors, the 10,000 square metre spa is a cool kingdom in which to hide from the beating heat of the summer sun. Start in the crystal steam room featuring a sparkling central block of rock quartz, believed to cleanse the soul by absorbing negative energy. Then, opt for a holistic massage with jojoba oil – all the oils in the spa are sourced locally and mixed in-house. The hour-long, medium pressure treatment uses a combination of flowing and rhythmic strokes to leave you feeling revitalised.

Best by boat

Drop anchor in Indigo Bay and tender in to the resort’s floating dock, where you will be greeted by a chauffeur – armed with cold towels and a chilled lemon, honey and lavender tea – who will escort you in a golf buggy up to the hilltop haven.
